Debt Free!

Andy got a promotion with Chase! He is now a "Subject Matter Expert" and a Team Lead. A few weeks ago we finally made the LAST motorcycle payment and so, other than our mortgage, we are DEBT FREE!!! At the rate we are going, we should get our house paid off in approximately 6 years. That is so exciting!

Happy New Year 2010!

Andy and I had a wonderful Holiday season. We had Christmas with Andy's parents and his brother and his family about 2 weeks early in Pottsboro, TX. Andy's dad played Santa and we all exchanged gifts and just enjoyed each other.

We were planning on driving back up to Pottsboro the day before Christmas, spend the night, and have Christmas day at Andy's grandparents' house. Our plans were interrupted by ice and on Christmas morning, both ice and snow. It was truely a "white Christmas" in Ft. Worth. We woke up Christmas morning and started a fire in the fireplace. We bundled up and went outside to throw snowballs and slide on the icey road. Our neighbors and their dogs were out having fun in it too.

My mother had taken off the day before Christmas to drive up to Perryton (her hometown) but had to stop in Wichita Falls, TX due to the bad road conditions. She got a hotel and stayed there until the day after Christmas, when they finally opened the roads back up. That day Andy and I drove up and met her at her hotel. The roads were horrible getting there. After meeting her, we followed each other and continued on the trip to Perryton. The rest of the drive was a breeze. We stayed at the farm (where my mom grew up) for about 4 days and had a blast. We learned a very fun game 'Farkle,' did some archery, shot pellet guns, hiked down canyons, skated (w/ shoes) on frozen springs in the canyons, Andy rode a horse, and we got to see a lot of family.

We spent New Year's Eve with our wonderful friends Mark & Lori, Noel & Emily, and a couple of other people. We taught them how to play Farkle too. If you haven't learned that yet you're missing out! :)

3rd Date Anniversary
October 2009

This past weekend Andy & I celebrated our 3rd date anniversary! I can't believe it has been 3 years! Actually I feel like we have been together so much longer than that. :) On Saturday afternoon we were going to go to the Omni Max theater in Ft. Worth but we were a little late and there was NO parking. So we ended up getting blizzards at a nearby Dairy Queen (my favorite restaurant, hehehe.) Then we decided to get real food and went to CiCi's Pizza... Mmmmm!
Then that evening we went to Medievil Times. That was so much fun. Cheesey, but fun. We had a great anniversary and I can't wait to have many many more.

Andy and I had a very busy summer. We had a wonderful family reunion in Perryton, TX with my mom's side of the family. Also, my grandma (my dad's mom) was married in Lubbock, TX. We also went fishing a few times at Lake Texoma.

Then it seemed like it rained the entire month of September. We are now 2 weeks into October and have only had 2 dry days. I guess I'm kind of getting ready for winter. Andy can't wait.

Yesterday my cousin Angi delivered her first baby, a sweet little girl named Krystey. She was 10 lbs 1 oz and 23 inches long! WOWZA! We're very happy for her and the family.

Next Wednesday Andy and I celebrate our 3rd anniversary from the day we met (not wedding.) What a fun and awesome 3 years it has been!

On March 20th 2009, Andy and I bought our first home. It is in Fort Worth, only 3 miles from my mom! It is 2-story, 3-bedroom, 2-1/2 bath, and in a culdesac with fantastic neighbors! In fact, we are in walking distance from Lake Arlington and can see it from our guest bedroom. When we first moved in, all the walls were painted cream and were filthy! There were some minor holes in walls and a few plumbing issues. Andy fixed the plumbing and I patched and painted. It has turned out beautiful. I have also planted a garden in our HUGE backyard. I'm growing okra, tomatos, bell peppers, cantelope, watermelon, and black-eyed-peas. Our yard is so big that we had to go on Craigs List and buy a riding lawn mower. Yesterday we decided it was time to get us a better tv instead of our big old tube which has horrible resolution. We went to Best Buy and bought a 42" LCD flat-screen for $600 cash. Now I've got to redecorate the living room a little bit. :) But that's always fun to do!
Another exciting thing for us right now is that we've just about completed our financial goals that we set when we got married. Our biggest goal was to be debt-free and have a $10,000 emergency fund set up. We now have our emergency fund and the only debt we now have is our house and Andy's motorcycle, which we're trying to sell. It is so exciting being financially free!
